In I quarter 2011 the sales of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and off-road vehicles increased by 86% as compared to the similar period of the previous year, setting up a new record. The total of 5,363 vehicles were sold during the first three months (against 2,878 units sold in January – March 2010). The considerable sales growth observed in Russia during the last year continued in 2011 exceeding the global performance: on the worldwide scale Mercedes-Benz vehicles sales increased by 13% during I quarter 2011. Thus, Mercedes-Benz leads the premium segment in Russia according to its sales results of I quarter 2011.
Moreover, in March 2011 the number of cars sold in Russia reached 2,301, which is by 105% more than in March 2010 when 1,123 vehicles were sold. The March sales results are the best ever during the whole history of Mercedes-Benz brand in Russia.
Mercedes-Benz off-road vehicles are the sales champions of I quarter 2011. The first three months of the current year witnessed a 182% increase in the sales volumes of G- and GL-class vehicles as compared to I quarter 2010. Overall 946 units were handed over to the clients (whereas 335 units were sold in I quarter 2010). The compact off-road vehicle GLK has expanded its market share with 808 units sold in I quarter 2011, which is by 142% more than in I quarter 2010.
